Hakan Fidan Attends EU Ministerial Meeting

(MENAFN) On Monday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan participated in a ministerial gathering focused on cross-regional security and connectivity, which was part of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, according to a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The meeting, which centered on "Security, Stability, and Resilience in the Black Sea Region," took place in Luxembourg, as reported by the ministry on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.

During his time in Luxembourg, Minister Fidan also held discussions with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and Marta Kos, the EU commissioner for enlargement, the ministry added in its NSosyal post.

Türkiye has been an official candidate for EU membership since 1999—Kos' area of responsibility—and its accession talks commenced in 2005 but have faced setbacks in recent years. Turkish officials have urged the EU to revive the negotiations, treat Türkiye equitably, and acknowledge its critical strategic and international role.
